Ever since I moved in last month I've been non-stop Pinteresting every nice little detail related to furnishing and interior design. This is the first in a loooong time that I've had a longer contract on a flat a finally feel I can have some fun with DIYing stuff. Of course it takes time, but bit by bit I will try to turn our home into a more personal, interesting and fun environment. Underneath you can find two very quick, easy DIYs I made yesterday!
Suomeksi:
Case 1: The Kitchen Stool.
Our kitchen cabinets are super high, and since we quickly had to buy the first (boring) footstool that came across at Ikea, I decided to paint it. I liked the idea of painting only half of it- what do you think? I'm considering painting the other half with a darker shade of wood, to match our floor.
Case 2: Flowers from guests and no vase at home!
After our housewarming party we had a thousand and one empty bottles around the house. I saved some of them and painted them white, since guests kept bringing flowers and don't own a vase. Recycling is king!

DIY: Interior Detail.
As I have just moved into a new flat, I feel I want to take my time in decorating it and not rush off and buy everything at once. Even the most simple things can be fun though, like hanging a fashion magazine on the wall while waiting for the perfect picture to hang.
Olen juuri muuttanut asumaan Helsinkiin ja tunnen vahvasti etten halua enkä jaksa juosta hulluna ympäri kaupunkia ostamassa sisustusjuttuja jotta saisin kodin kuntoon heti. Otan mielummin rauhallisesti ja etsin vähän kauemmin löytääkseni juuri ne jutut, joilla haluan koristella kotini. Ennen kuin täydellinen taulu tai kuva löytyy seinälle muotilehti yksinkertaisessa metallihenkarissa piristää kivasti tyhjyyttä! Ja kämppä pysyy siistinä ;)

Something old, something new...
Today I'm trying something new: Videoblogging! :) I just HAD to make a video when I found this greater than great radiostation... It plays arabic, african, brazilian, well ALL kind of traditional music! It makes me completely calm and focused on other stuff, than the music. It's a very inspiring background tune :)
Following, some pics from the new appartament :) For the first time in my life, I can feel a super positive aura... I think auras are formed mostly on who and what kind of people have been living in the flat before. This flat is rented to us by a model from Stockholm, who regularly goes to New York for a longer period of time to work, and who now currently is in Burkina Faso (her family lives there) and who is a passionate documentary-filmer. One of the documentaries that she has made is Taxi Sister, in which she follows a female taxidriver in Senegal on her daily routines and the daily difficulties she is confronted with only because of her gender. See the trailer here.

Interior DIY-ladder
I got inspired to do this DIY-ladder by the amazing Ivana Carpio from Love Aesthetics. She blogged about a Tripod Coat Rack that was made of aluminium pipes some time ago, and so this is my own version of a DIY-clothing rack. Minimalistic and fun, and it gives such a comfy yet fashionable "home-feeling" in our new appartament. The best part is: It takes only about five minutes to do!
Only thing you need is aluminium pipes, a metal-saw (or you can cut them at the hardware store) and some ribbon or tape. I left the edges of the ribbon uncut and hanging, so it wouldn't look too perfect. Imperfection is perfection! What do you think?

New Home.
This is the most energy I have for sharing today. We got settled in, ran around town the whole day, went to Ikea, Designtorget and my favourite; Granit (Swedish interior design stores). In Granit almost everything they sell is black and/or made out of metal, and paired with a newly painted white appartament it's just the result I want. More tomorrow promise! Sleep tight!
