Indiedays goes DIY: Cateye Sunglasses

Jeejee, Indiedays viettää nyt maaliskuussa INDIEDAYS GOES DIY-kuukautta, jonka aikana 18 suosittua bloggaajaa postaavat parhaimmat DIY-ideansa pukeutumiseen ja kotiin osoitteessa http://diy.indiedays.com/. 

Itse halusin ehdottomasti tehdä DIY-version jostain muotiviikoilla bongaamalleni trendille, ja monen kivan DIY-idean joukosta päädyin tuunaamaan Cateye-aurinkolasit. Tästä tulikin älyttömän helppo ja nopea DIY!


So the Finnish blogportal Indiedays.com is organizing a DIY-month during March! How fun is that?! 18 popular bloggers will show their coolest fashion and interior-ideas at http://diy.indiedays.com/.

I wanted to make a DIY from one of the trends seen at the fashion weeks, and after looking through heaps of inspiration pics I chose to make some Cateye-sunnies!

Tarvitset siis:                                  What you need for this DIY:
-Aurinkolasit                                   -Sunglasses 
-Nahkaa                                          -Leather
-Paperia ja sakset                           -Paper and scissors
-Superliimaa                                    -Glue

Valitsin tähän simppelit mustat (a.k.a vähän tylsät :P ) aurinkolasit. Aloitin piirtämällä cateye-muodon paperille. Kannattaa kokeilla paperin muotoa ensin lasien päällä, niin saa suoraan leikattua nahasta oikean mallisen ja kokoisen palan.

I chose black, simple (a.k.a a bit boring :P ) sunnies for this DIY. You start by drawing the shape on some paper, then trying it out on the sunglasses to get exactly the shape you want. Then use the piece to trace it on the leather.

Liimaa nahkapala lasien reunaan ja voilá, valmista on! Jätä varmuuden vuoksi lasit kuivumaan yön yli.

Glue it to the frame and voilá! I left it to dry overnight so it will stick on properly.

Näistä voisi hyvin tehdä paljon hauskoja eri versioita, esim. hopeanvärisestä muovista tai metallista! Oli pakko heti ostaa toiset valkoiset lasit jotka aivan varmasti teen samalla taktiikalla. Sky is the limit ;) Nyt on myös kokonainen kansio täynnä DIY-inspoa muotiviikoilta, eli tulen ehdottomasti tekemään seuraavien viikkojen aikana vielä pari muuta tutorialia! :)

Brrrrr it's getting so cold in Finland!! Time for oversized wool coats and loads of layers. The coat and silk shirt are from the Olsen-twins collection for the Norwegian brand BikBok (the collection is hitting the stores the 24th), be sure to check it out if you live in Scandinavia!

Lately I've been having a fixation on dark greens and blues, it might be because cute fuzzy pastels are super trendy right now, so I want to go in the opposite direction. Besides, I've been wearing pastels for more than 3 years now so it's time for a change ;) I really dream of dressing head-to-toe in these two colours all season. Yum!

Hyyyyyi miten kylmä täällä Suomessa onkaan!! On aika kaivaa esiin ylisuuret villakangastakit ja aloittaa taas kerrospukeutuminen. Kuvissa näkyvät takki ja kauluspaita ovat tulevasta Olsen-kaksosten BikBok-mallistosta, kaupoissa 24.10. Mary-Kate ja Ashley halusivat tuoda mallistossa esiin näkemyksensä Skandinaavisesta "It-Girlistä", luvassa on ihania laadukkaita materiaaleja ja upeita vaatekaapin must-have piecejä. 

Viime aikoina olen huratanut totaalisesti eri vihreisiin ja sinisiin sävyihin, haluan pukeutua koko talven päästä varpaisiin näissä kahdessa sävyssä! Pastelleja näkyy tällä hetkellä joka puolella mutta olen niin kyllästynyt söpöihin pehmeisiin sävyihin. Niitä on tullut itse käytettyä jo aivan liian kauan, long live the darkness!

How to: Dye Your Hair at Home.

Colour after 1 wash.

 So, here are the steps I followed to get this ombré-ish messy punk haircolour! Basicly what you first need, is an attitude that no matter what happens, you will rock this new hairdo. Confidence is key! ;)

I used the Crestol Fantasy colour Funky Purple, since I wanted a colour that was in between violet and pink. The colour scared me at first since it's reeeally dark, but it is easy to lighten up with conditioner.

FIN: Eli tässä vähän tarkemmat ohjeet tämän hiusvärin tekemiseen! Alkuun tarvitaan tottakai kickass attitude että mitä tahansa tapahtuikin, ne ovat vain hiuksia, ja rokkaatte niitä kuitenkin. ;) Confidence is key!

Käytin Crestol Fantasyn väriä Funky Purple, koska halusin värin joka ei ollut liian violetti eikä liian pinkki. Väri näyttää purkissa tooodella tummalta mikä pelotti alkuun, mutta sitä on tosi helppo vaalentaa hoitoaineella.

Step 1: Make sure your hair is clean and shampooed, but not conditioned. Mix the colour in a plastic bowl with conditioner to get the shade you want. The colour now is going to be almost exactly as it will look on your hair when it's dry and ready so keep that in mind! Also, it's good that the conditioner is a really basic one, not a super treating, repairing or other. And make sure to wear gloves, this colour stained really easily!

Vaihe1: Hiusten pitää olla puhtaat ja pesdyt (ei hoitoaineella) ja ilman lakkaa tai muita aineita. Sekoita vähän väriä hoitoaineen kanssa muovikippoon saadaksesi haluamasi sävyn. Tässä vaiheessa väri näyttää jo melkein tismalleen samalta kuin lopputuloksessa, hyvä pitää mielessä! On myös parempi käyttää ihan tavallista hoitoainetta eikä supertehokasta hoitavaa tai muita erikoishoitoaineita. Ja käyttäkää hanskoja, koska tämä väri tahraa todella helposti ja on vaikea saada pois iholta tai muilta pinnoilta!

 

2. I started with my ends and a slightly midtone shade. 10minutes and It came out such a delicious berry-colour, sorry for the bad iphone picture!  I dried my hair to see the final colour, mixed another set with even more conditioner and a drop of colour, and applied it to the whole hair from roots to ends, kept the colour for only two minutes. Just applying it with the hands and not combing it through made it a more natural, messy colour, and the two-fase application made it a cool ombré!

2. Aloitin pelkästään latvoista keskisävyllä, jotta siitä ei tulisi vahingossa liian tumma. Siitä tuli kymmenessä minuutissa aivan syötävän marjaisa sävy, ei näy kunnolla tässä huonossa iPhone kuvassa. Kuivasin hiukset, sekoitin toisen setin väriä (tällä kertaa vähän vaaleamman) ja levitin sen sotkuisesti koko tukkaan aloittaen juurista. Kampaamalla hiukset sen jälkeen läpi, väristä tulee tasaisempi, minä skippasin sen vaiheen kokonaan. :)  Pidin väriä päässä ainoastaan pari minuuttia ja se riitti hyvin!

 

 

This was the result. Quite bright but only after one wash it turned out like on the first picture. It's nice since you definitely don't get bored while to colour keeps changing from wash to wash!


Tässä tulos! Aika kirkas mutta jo yhden pesun jälkeen siitä tuli ensimmäisen kuvan näköinen. Hauskaa että väri jatkaa muuttumistaan joka pesun jälkeen, tähän ei todellakaan kyllästy helpolla! :)

I love this cage cut-out top I got from SheInside.com! Perfect surprise waiting for me at home in Finland after my bag got lost in either Las Vegas or Frankfurt and STILL hasn't arrived after two days :( All my new garments are in there, I'm keeping my fingers crossed 24/7 hoping it will show up.

Se oli täydellinen piristys kotona odottamassa sen jälkeen kun sain tietää että matkalaukku jossa KAIKKI USA:sta ostamani vaatteet on kadoksissa... Big Love to Miu Miu's fantastic new sunnies! I saw them on Rihanna's Instagram and had to google them right away. Theese cut-off lenses are to die for. Perhaps even worth attempting a DIY...? ;)

 

LOVE näille Miu Miun uuden kesämalliston silmälaseille! Näin ne Rihannan Instagramissa eilen ja piti heti googlata. Nämä leikatut linssit ovat tajuttoman ihanat! Kenties tuleva DIY-projektini..? ;)

This is the result of the Tokyo summer dress styling I did last month! Not exactly my style (way too feminine!), but it turned out nicely thanks to my very talented photographer boyfriend. :) (P.s Check out his works here!) Thanks for the hair and assistance Laura!

Baseball Chic(k).

 

Today's look! Curls and red lipstick are the perfect match to my new basball jacket from the Topman sales (yes TopMAN!!). The look is a bit inspired by the fact I'm soooo looking forward to L.A, only 10 days left!
Now I'm off to Harajuku to take some streetstyle pics for a project X and then I'm going to help a friend out in his new english-teaching café.

Päivän look! Kiharat ja punainen huulipuna täydentävät niin kivasti tätä poikamaista uutta baseball-takkiani. Ostin sen eilen Topmanistä, 70% alennuksesta!! Huomaan että pukeudun joka päivä enemmän ja enemmän L.A-maisesti, en millään malta odottaa vielä 10päivää reissuun...
Kohta lähden Harajukuun räpsimään vähän streetstyle-kuvia ja sitten menen auttamaan yhtä japanilaista kaveria hänen englanninkielen kahvilakoulun kanssa.

Inspiration: Sheer.

One of this summer's trends is definitely sheer. Maxi skirts, shirts, shoes, bags, in transparent sheer beautiful materials. I got a piece inspired by this trend that I'm going to style for you guys tomorrow (right now bedtime is calling), I can already feel the wind gently sweeping the light materials on my skin ah! :) I'm in such a summer-mood right now!
A killer style for these kind of sheer garments would to pair them with boots and a leather jacket, which give a nice contrast to the romantic fabrics.

Yksi kesän trendisuosikkini on ehdottomasti nämä ohuenohuet, läpinäkyvät vaatteet. Maksipituisia hameita, kauluspaitoja, bleisereitä ja kenkiä sekä laukkuja näkyy kauppojen hyllyillä näissä läpikuultavissa kauniissa kankaissa. Ostin pari päivää sitten tähän trendiin liittyvän vaatteen jonka stailaan teille huomenna (nyt on aika mennä nukkumaan), mutta pystyn jo ihan tuntemaan sen ihanan silkkisen kankaan liikkuvan tuulessa ah! :) Olen niiiin kesäfiiliksissä. 
Minusta hyvä yhdistelmä tähän trendiin olisi buutsit ja nahkatakki, ne tuovat vähän kontrastia romanttisiin materiaaleihin. En nimittäin tykkää olla liian tyttömäinen vahingossakaan :)

Obsession: Cross Stitch

I am currently obsessed with cross stitching. That slightly ugly, granny-like old stitching just seems so... so cool to me right now! Just have a look at these Alexander McQueen men's cross stitched loafers! So amazing! You can basicly cross stitch any picture, as long as you draw it first you'll get it nice and clean. I can smell a DIY coming up...

Long Bob.

 

When I was living in Barcelona, I modelled for different hair-product brands such as Wella and L'oreal. After two years and a LOT of different hairstyles I got so tired of people deciding about my hair I started saying no to jobs and just letting it grow. No colours, no cuts, I just let it grow. Now, 2 years later, the only time I coloured my hair was when I made it super red, and then let it slowly faint into a straberry blonde and then back to my orginal colour. It's so long now, and I'm SO sick of it.

Thus, time for a change! I fell in love with these two girls I found randomly on the internet, so I might be going towards a long bob with my hair aswell. I just need to figure out something extra to it, like a nice colour or something special, to not make it so classic. The "Outgrown red" is just gorgeous!

Neon Yellow DIY Crochet Necklace

Please ignore my tired face, i've been wearing only lipstick today!

This DIY is so easy and fast to do, even if you're not very familiar with crochet! 

The two things you need are a thick crochet hook and this jersey fabric thread. At least in Finland you can find them in all fabric stores, they cut their leftover fabrics and make thick thread out of it. Great way to use spare pieces of fabric!

 Make the starting knot by making a loop. Leave a 10cm piece of thread for the closure at the end.
















 

 Pull through the thread .

 Then slide it on the crochet hook.

This is the basic position of thread and hands.
Once you've got this, you do great! The thread on the thumb should be the longer thread.

With the hook, bring through the left side thread through the first hoop on your crochet hook.

Continue bringing the thread through and pulling it, then back to the basic position. You will see a thread chain growing.

When you've got the length you wanted, it's time to make the second layer of chains. This you do by going through the hoops you've just created.

Put the hook through the first hoop, and pull trhough the thread.

Continue through all the hoops, then repeat for a third layer if you like a wider necklace.   

 Done! Leave another 10cm of thread at the end so you can use them to tie a bow for closure in the back.
